The Worlds of Fun Railroad opened with the park in 1973, offering a scenic train ride behind an authentic steam locomotive past scenic elements.
Engine #33 named the Eli operated reliably in the park for more than 45 years before it required boiler replacement in 2019. The locomotive was sent off premises for service and a "loaner" locomotive was brought to the park to serve as an interim replacement.
 










   
For the 2020 season #552 Levi was brought to Worlds of Fun to serve as a replacement locomotive while Eli was out for boiler replacement. Levi was formerly part of the Old Dominion Line at Worlds of Funs sister park Kings Dominion.
