Rolling
Thunder
Rolling Thunder is a twin racing coaster, designed so both trains battle back and forth for the lead throughout the course. The two tracks are similar but not identical, which increases the racing feeling. The coaster was designed by Don Rosser and Bill Cobb, and built by Frontier Construction. Rolling Thunder opened in 1979, as part of a new southwestern themed section of the park known as Hernando's Hideaway. Rolling Thunder's two tracks are each designed to operate with two trains, for a total of four train operations at maximum capacity. This traditional wooden coaster is fitted with "skid brakes", which limit operations to single trains on each track in wet weather. Rolling Thunder Statistics
