Opened in the 1983 season, along with the Parachuters Perch and the Water Ski Spectacular, Freefall was a sensation when it opened, drawing huge crowds.

Freefall is an INTAMIN "first generation" Freefall ride, and Six Flags introduced the rides at their parks throughout the country in the early 1980's.   Today, many parks have removed these rides in favor of larger and more modern drop tower rides.

When Freefall opened, the park ran commercials on radio and television featuring a stuntman jumping off a building and the tagline "What's it like to jump off a 13-story building?".

Years later, as the section of the park was re-themed to become Movietown, the ride was renamed Stuntman's Freefall.

Freefall was removed in late 2006 after a season of spotty operations due to ride age.
