Dream
Street/Fantasy Forest The area of the park known today as Fantasy Forest began as Dream Street, the central walkway through the park. The park's original entrance was at one end of Dream Street, approximately where the Golden Kingdom entry portal now stands. The four tents served as the park's main gift shops standing near the entrance and exit gates. The Carousel, fountain, Big Wheel and Gingerbread Fancy restaurant were all built along the center line of Dream Street, drawing guests farther into the Enchanted Forest (the original name for theme park). The sights of Dream Street were fantastic, with the World's Tallest Ferris Wheel, the World's Tallest Water Jet (the original fountain), and a restaurant that looked like a giant ice cream sundae (The Yum Yum Palace). Also found along Dream Street was the original children's area, Ridearama, and The Garden of Marvels, a miniature village of reproductions of European landmarks. In 1976 as the park's popularity increased, the entrance was moved form its original location on Dream Street to a new entrance plaza which had a colonial/Bicentennial theme and today is know as Main Street. The Ridearama section was moved to the original entrance area and became Kiddieland, and the fountain took on a new role as being the hub of the park. Over the years, Dream Street was blocked at the Carousel, forcing guests into the Boardwalk games area, and the remainder of Dream Street took on the new name Fantasy Forest.
